1 dead after vehicle hits street light, rolls in Tooele

TOOELE — A man died after the car he was driving crashed near an intersection in Tooele early Thursday, police said.

Police responded to a call about a single-vehicle accident near Utah Avenue and Rogers Street about 3:20 a.m., according to Tooele Police Sgt. Chris Thompson. It looked like the vehicle went off the road and crashed into a street light, he said.

“The vehicle rolled multiple times. The driver … was ejected and pronounced dead on scene,” Thompson said.

The name of the driver, who was in his mid-40s, has not yet been released. He was the only person in the vehicle.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
