Motorcyclist dies after colliding with scooter in southern Utah

ST. GEORGE — A motorcycle rider who crashed after hitting an electric scooter that was left in the road has died from his injuries.

The 54-year-old man, who police say was from the St. George area, was riding Monday about 7:30 a.m. when he collided with a scooter near the intersection of Bluff Street and St. George Boulevard. The man was not wearing a helmet. Police announced Tuesday that the man, whose name has not yet been released, passed away from the injuries he sustained in the crash.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his friends and family,” St. George police said in a statement.

The scooter was left in an area on Bluff Street and should not have been there, said officer Tiffany Mitchell. The investigation into why the scooter was there, how it got there and who may have either left it or put it there, was ongoing.
